• Person of ability, integrity, special knowledge and professional experience of not less than
fifteen years.
• International trade, economics, business, commerce, law, finance, accountancy, management, industry, public affairs or competition matters, including competition law and policy.

Central Government – based on recommendations of Selection Committee.
• Head - Chief Justice of India or his nominee.
• Other members - Secretary in the Ministry of Corporate Affairs ; secretary in the Ministry of Law and Justice; two experts possessing special knowledge and professional experience
Tenure :
• Term of five years or till the age of 65
• Eligible for re-appointment
